K12 Technologies Offers Free School Voting System for Students to Participate in the 2004 Presidential Election
Richmond, IL (PRWEB) October 8, 2004
K12 Technologies, a leading provider of safe email systems and other services for the K-12 market, announces a free voting service for educators focusing on the upcoming 2004 Presidential Election.
K12 Vote (http://www.k12vote.com) is a web based application for schools that allows educators to hold a mock presidential election. The system setup time is under 5 minutes and gives the student the feel that they are participating in the democratic process. Votes are placed over the internet and recorded for each school to display or print out. The teacher generates ÂVoter Ballot Keys to print out and distribute to the student voters. Students then enter their ÂVoter Ballot Key and are taken to a voting screen with pictures of six presidential candidates. The student chooses his or her candidate and votes. The teacher closes the polls and the results are displayed for viewing or printing.
According to David Stedman, GM, ÂIt is important to get students involved in the democratic process at an early age. With over half of our eligible voting public not exercising their most important constitutional right, early involvement may be good practice that will carry over into adulthood. We believe this is extremely important; this is why we are offering this service to educators free of charge. Having the system on the internet reflects the environment that the voters of the future may experience.Â
K12 Vote (http://www.k12vote.com) is available to any educator free of charge with minimal planning and setup time. There is no limit on the amount of voters or the number of elections that can be held. Before the November 2, 2004 election there will be an option to enter local race information for voting. Additional information about K12 Vote, including helpful classroom and internet resources, is available on the K12 Vote web site.
